SURF COAST SECONDARY COLLEGE

Sub School 9-10

Our Year 9 program is focused on developing the learning behaviours and interpersonal skills to set a student up for success. Each student is provided with a mentor who can support their learning, along with a core group of teachers delivering key subjects ensuring their needs are catered for.

Year 9 at Surf Coast Secondary College provides students the opportunity to choose semester-based electives that align with their interests. Our open plan classroom environment allows students to experience a mix of explicit and self-directed learning that assist in developing key interpersonal and communication skills.

In Year 10, students have the opportunity to build a learning program that suits their interests. Subjects on offer alongside English and Mathematics include Biology, Chemistry, STEM, Computing, Magical Food and many others. To support their learning, each student has a mentor teacher allocated to be their advocate at the school and oversee their progress, providing additional support as needed. Our Year 10 program is focused on helping students discover the pathway that is right for them by integrating work experience and vocational education. Students in Year 10 have the opportunity to undertake Unit 1 and 2 VCE subjects such as Business Management or Health and Human Development alongside their Year 10 subjects.
