SURF COAST SECONDARY COLLEGE

Transistion to Secondary School

Our first priority is to make the transition from primary school to secondary college as smooth as possible.

This important program involves creating a supportive and secure learning environment as students become accustomed to life at secondary school. The Year 7 Orientation program helps our new students form friendships with their new peers and also with their Mentor Teacher who will be their guide in their first year as a SCSC student. We aim to help them build a sense of belonging in the school, and feel confident that the skills acquired in their primary years have prepared them well for the years ahead.

We encourage all parents to be active participants in their child’s education and to get to know the dedicated team of teachers who work with our Year 7 students as part of the FUSE program.

This important program helps teachers to develop an excellent understanding of every student’s learning strengths and needs and informs effective teaching practice and a more supportive learning environment for every student.
